Background Paper 1: Review of Foundations for Visitor Services

This detailed summary of major policies and initiatives of the Alberta Government, the Ministry of Tourism Parks and Recreation and the Alberta Parks Division contains recommendations on how interpretation and education can support these directions. It helped to focus effort and identify areas of emphasis throughout the planning process. It can also be used by managers to justify budgets and program emphasis.

This detailed, heavily illustrated review of the geological, biological, historic and cultural features and processes that can be encountered in two or more sites within the David Thompson Corridor was used throughout the planning process to inform the development of interpretive themes and identify core areas of emphasis. It is also an excellent information source for interpreters working at sites within the district.
